The owner of the Brunel Shopping Centre in Swindon has signalled a change in direction from retail to leisure as the complex celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The twin building shopping centre, which is connected by a 20,000 sq ft food and drink hub – opened in 2018 – called The Crossing, has recently welcomed a new 5,000 sq ft arcade at unit 14 and 15 at Brunel Plaza.
High Score Arcade is one of the first free-play arcade branches to launch in the UK, offering customers unlimited access to games for a one-off entry fee.
Brunel owner FI Real Estate Management hopes its new strategy will entice people to the town centre in the evening through family, competitive leisure, and food outlets.
Tim Knowles, managing director of FI Real Estate Management, said: “There is so much potential at The Brunel and we have a vision to retain the successful elements of the centre and build on this to create a high-end evening leisure destination."
“We are committed to creating an entirely new offer in the town centre, and by attracting the very best leisure, entertainment and food and beverage providers we will transform the centre into a vibrant space where the whole family can enjoy an evening out.”
Nicki Gamblin, group manager at High Score Arcades, said: “We are delighted to be opening our newest addition to High Score Arcades in the Brunel. We are keen to bring an exciting new element of family entertainment to the shopping centre."
“We pride ourselves on providing a fun, inclusive, safe environment for all ages – we really do have something for everyone at our venues. Increased footfall to the centre will also have a positive impact on local businesses.”
