Swindon’s landmark STEAM - Museum of the Great Western Railway has begun welcoming back visitors and is now looking forward to seeing visitor numbers soar for the summer holidays.

And there’s great news for families, up to four children (aged 3 - 15yrs) can visit STEAM for £1 each between 23 July and 5 September when accompanied by a full-paying adult.

To claim the discount, simply select the required number of adult and child tickets on the STEAM website and enter discount code K4Q21 at checkout. 

The offer is not valid in conjunction with any other offer or promotion including the purchase of family tickets.

There will also be a chance to handle original objects in STEAM’s ‘Hands on the Past’ sessions, which take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout August.

STEAM also offers two brand new exhibitions.

‘GWR Shipping offers’ the chance to discover the history of the company's ships at sea, including the important role which the GWR played in the evacuation of Dunkirk during the Second World War.

‘Through The Window’ displays stunning artworks alongside vintage rail travel posters. The exhibition is a collaboration between STEAM and Swindon Museum and Art Gallery's 'Art on Tour' project.

STEAM - Museum of the Great Western Railway is housed in a beautifully restored Grade II railway building in the heart of the former Swindon railway works.

Situated right opposite the Swindon Designer Outlet, the museum tells the story of the men and women who built, operated and travelled on the Great Western Railway, often referred to by historians and railway fans as ‘God’s Wonderful Railway’.

The pioneering vision and engineering genius of Isambard Kingdom Brunel led to the Great Western Railway network becoming regarded as the most advanced in the world.
