#growswindon Campaign Launches To Boost Town Centre

Anita Bellinger of inSwindon BID gives us the lowdown on exciting plans as shops reopen.

As inSwindon BID celebrates the safe return of our businesses, employees, residents, and visitors to the high street we launch our community focused campaign #GrowSwindon.

We have started to sow the seeds of hope and vibrancy in Swindon town centre, and we will continue to help it grow creatively throughout the year.

You will have heard the shimmering smoothness of the steel drums echo around the town, uplifted your spirits taking in our latest stunning mural by super talented local artists Peter Cowdy and Dayna Baxter, and witnessed the start of our greening up project, twelve spectacular new planters.

Artist Peter Cowdy commented on his inspiring Mother Earth with Flower of Life mural, “I have loved painting this wall and particularly enjoyed the theme of growth which fits perfectly at Wharf Green, surrounded by trees!”

“We have been overwhelmed by the support we received from passers-by, as well as the local pigeon population who sang to us all week. A special thanks to inSwindon BID, who's vision and drive to make these projects happen is helping slowly to transform our town and inspire creativity from all who live here.”

It’s only just begun…a calendar of fabulous festivities awaits as we introduce our #GrowSwindon campaign. Including projects, activities, and events, that will create an exciting and vibrant town centre. These will include more stunning murals of giant proportion, fragrant hanging baskets of beautiful blooms, magical art trails and exhibitions, and a multitude of twinkling festive lights.

As we gently and carefully ease our way into a brighter year, we are encouraging our gifted local groups to join us and celebrate the spirit and hope of our Swindon community. More than ever, our town centre and local community needs support, and inSwindon BID is bringing everyone together to help produce the perfect opportunity to #LoveLocal.

From arts, culture and heritage to technology and innovation, Swindon town centre is the perfect platform to showcase Swindon’s amazing talents. Watch this space…
