Heritage Open Days at the Railway Village Museum
Date: 14/09/2019 - 15/09/2019
Railway Village Museum, 34 Faringdon Road, Swindon, SN1 5BJ
Join volunteers at Swindon's Railway Village Museum for a special Heritage Open Days weekend. The 2019 theme for Heritage Open Days - a free local heritage festival - is People Power and we'll be thinking about recycling. We live in a disposable society. Our oceans and landfill are filling up with plastic. Thanks to campaigns and individual efforts, we?re each doing our bit to reduce plastic waste and seeing what people power can achieve. But what was life before plastic like? And is there anything we can learn from the past about reuse, repair and recycling?
Join volunteers at Swindon's Railway Village Museum this September to find out more! Visit this former railway worker's cottage to find out more about life in a Victorian town. Search the museum for examples of repair and recycling and learn how to make a rag-rug with our friendly volunteers. We?re also welcoming you to look the part and come dressed in vintage costume, or try on some of our accessories and take a souvenir photograph of your visit!
