New sport goes from strength to strength in Swindon.
For those of you who may not know, football golf is a hybrid sport of golf and football, and has taken the country by storm in recent years with adults and children alike. Similar to golf, the aim of the game is to kick a football from a tee into a large hole on a green in the minimum amount of kicks possible. The person at the end of the round with the lowest score wins!
In 2015, Basset Down opened up a 6-hole football golf course and then expanded to 12-holes the following year. Due to popular demand, they then opened a brand new, 18-hole course in 2018. The course is set over 2,183 yards and to keep things fair, it has Academy Tees with shorter distances for younger children. The course takes approx. 1 hr 45 mins to play and includes many natural obstacles, including trees, water and bunkers.
The course is great for families looking for something different to do in the area, or even for a friendly kick about with your mates. It is also great for birthday parties, end-of-season presentations, stag and hen parties, team days out and corporate events.
